The Ghost Unit - Chapter 4

Trinnean James

Chapter 4

To the South of Kandahar, Afghanistan at the Allied troops camp a soldier walks up to a tent like structure. The soldier is around 5 feet 7 inches, with a sun tanned complexion and jet black hair. What sets him apart are his bottle green eyes which gives him an extremely fierce look.

He starts unbuttoning his jacket as he enters the tent but is suddenly startled by a shadow in his tent and reaches for his hip pistol.

'Put that thing away Major.' says the figure sprawled on his bed.

He slips his gun back into its holster and walks up to his bed.

He bends down and grabs the figure on his bed and plants his lips on hers and kisses her long and hard.

'What the fuck are you doing here?' He asks when he moves away from the figure.

'Is that how you say hi to me TJ?' The figure responds.

'Sorry Qiyanna. But...'

'What but?'

'Dint my kiss tell you how much I missed you?'

'Hmmm.'

'Well you weren't expected back till next week and how did you get onto base?'

'TJ you tend to forget who I work for. My mission got over sooner than expected so I'm here. Were you expecting other company?'

TJ looks surprised 'Do you think there'd be another woman who'd be able to handle me?'

Qiyanna grins 'True only I'd be able to handle you.' She pulls back the cover of the bed as she says this.

'You will never change.' says TJ with a naughty glint in his eyes. He pulls off his shirt and drops his trousers and crawls in under the cover.

The Ghost Unit - Chapter 3

Chapter 3

Somewhere in a remote mountain range in Iceland. 2 men walk through a huge steel door sunk into the side of a mountain. As soon as they step through the doors, a rock enclosure seals the entrance, before the steel door shuts. The General looks at this and grins.

'Not bad' says the General.

The director then leads the General further into the facility. He leads the General to a huge room with screens covering 3 of the 4 walls of the room.

'General this is the war room. Your command post in this facility. Everything you have ever dreamed of is here or can be controlled from here' says the Director.

A sandy haired youngster walks up to the two of them.

'Director everything's ready'

'Thank you Blake.' The director turns to the General 'This is Blake Austin code name Gizmo. He's your in house tech genius. He's the one who put this together. Anything to do with technology and Blake knows it.'

'Thank you sir.'

The General smiles as he takes Blake's outstretched hand and shakes it. 'Blake I would like to put these gizmos to test.'

'Sure General. What would you like?' Enquires Blake.

'I want you to find me a soldier named Trinnean James.'

Blake stares at the General. 'Snake Eyes?'

The General stares back and nods his head. 'You know of him?' He asks Blake.

'I worked with him sir. One of the best officers I've had the priviledge of working with.'

'That's good. You will be getting to work with him a lot more. I expect him to head this group.'

The screens in front of them set ablaze in multiple colors and a photo of a young man comes up. The name Trinnean James flashes on the screen.

'Locate him for me.'

'Sir he has been sent on a special classified mission into Sudan. Current location unknown.'

'Well then let's fly to Sudan and find him.'

'Sir that won't be possible' replies Blake.

The General turns to the director. 'As head of this unit I presume I hv the right to override any other security agencies directives?'

The director nods his head. 'Blake ready the G450  for the General. He's heading to Sudan. Give him the necessary documents. Oh but before that, please initiate the various security procedures with the General.'

The director then turns and walks over to a stationary black hawk parked in the center of the facility. As the director gets in the blades of the chopper start to rotate. The director puts on the headset and signals to the pilot to take off. As the chopper rises the ceiling starts parting and the helicopter shoots out into the sky.

The General turns towards Blake. 'Lead the way lad. Let's get all the formalities done so I can leave.'
Blake leads the General to a lab where the General is taken in through a number of tests from blood test. He is then put to in front of a retina scanner and a his voice is recorded. His hand prints are taken as well. He is then put in front of a weird machine and a flash appears. In a few seconds a small plastic card emerges. Blake takes hold of this transparent plastic strip and hands it over to the General.

The moment the General touches the plastic card, it lights up. A light travels up and down the card and suddenly the top portion of the card has words appearing on it. He looks at it and the writings turn into a circle and a light projects out towards his eye and then disappears.

The card lights up again and the words "General Vladimir Bolchikov Confirmed. Call sign The General." displays across the top of the card.

'What the hell?' exclaims the General.

'That General is your access card. It must be kept with you at all times. It is more than just a card. It is a 2 way communicator' says Blake as he hands a tiny plastic object to the General. 'Put that in your ear' he adds.

'Now General can you hear me?' Blake flicks a switch on a nearby console.

The General puts his right thumb on his card and then replies. 'Yes I can.' He hears himself over a speaker unit. He nods his head approvingly.

The General turns to Blake 'Now time to find Trinnean.'

The Ghost Unit - Chapter 2

Chapter 2

Flashback 1 (1990)

Interpol HQ.

'Sir we have received word that a General Vladimir Bolchikov has found "The Butcher" and is taking him to the KGB HQ. What would you like us to do?'

'Thank you Patty. I want to meet the General. Get me the jet and clear my calendar for the rest of the day.' Says the director of Interpol.

An hour later, the director boards the jet and sets off to Moscow to meet the General.

KGB HQ in Moscow.

'General there is somebody here to meet you and says it is important. He is not telling us his name. He just asked me to give this to you.' The assistant hands the General and envelope.

The General takes it and opens it and pulls our a business card. He turns to the assistant. 'Send the gentleman in.'

A minute later the door to the General's office open and the man walks in.

'So what does the director of Interpol want to meet me for?'

'Ah General. Thank you for meeting me at short notice. But there is something important I need to discuss with you.'

'Really? What is so important that you need my help?'

'I hear the KGB has caught 'The Butcher'.'

'Yes you are right. Do not tell me that you want to take claim for catching her.'

'Her?'

'Yes. Did you not know 'The Butcher' is a woman? Her name is Gabrielle Estonia. How did this information slip the Interpol.'

'Well General our resources are not as liberal or as thorough as yours and that is why I am here today.'

'Ok does that mean you need me to catch another criminal for you?'

'Yes and No.'

'Which one is it?'

'Yes I want you to catch criminals and No not for me.'

'So speak up and tell me what you have in mind.'

The director of Interpol looks at the General and sighs before he starts. 'What I have to say does not leave this room. The interpol is looking to start a covert team that is independant of every government action and authority. We have a proposal to set up what we want to call the Ghost Unit. A unit that is invisible to everybody. I am here today to ask you to be part of it and head the team. You will be in charge of the entire operations of the Ghost Unit. What do you say?'

The General gives him a straight face that covers the true confusion and joy the General is feeling inside. 'If I agree do I get full authority? What about finances.'

The director smiles at him. 'You get full authority although you do have to report to me on all you are doing. You call all the shots. About the finances. There is no cap to the spending. Every government has agreed to offer all the assistance and funding they can. Your team will be the ultimate force to combat terrorism and crime.'

'Who else is part of my team? You said the Ghost Unit will be invisible to everybody. What did you mean?' Asks the General.

'Exactly what it means. The members of the Ghost Unit will not be known by anybody outside the unit. It is vital for the operation of the unit. The only people who know the members of the unit will be myself and the heads of the various departments at Interpol. The reason being we need to know who gets the ultimate clearance that only our team can provide.'

'No Director. If you want me to lead this team you have to give me the authority to decide who knows. Your team may be great but I will decide which of them needs to know of the Ghosts. The remaining will be replaced by people I chose. All your men who are selected will be part of the Ghost Unit and will answer to me and report to me. If that is not fine with you then you can find somebody else to head the unit.' Replies the General.

'Fine. You can have the freedom to do so.'

'So Director. If the only people who are to know the existance of the Ghosts are you and the rest of the Ghost team, how do you intend on recruiting people who are heroes in their field of operations? Others will know them. You can't possibly think all of them will undergo plastic surgery. What about family?'

'Yes General. I was coming to that. We plan on faking the deaths of the people we recruit. It is dangerous to have their families know where they are. We want to keep the families out of harms way. About surgery. That won't be required. We have something in place that will shock the hell out of you.'

'Ok now where do we operate from?'

'Ah we have a secret facility that's been built just for the Ghosts.'

A hint of surprise flashes on the General's face. He then asks the director 'You said its a secret facility. How can it be a secret facility when there were people who built it? They know it exists.'

'General you have so little faith in us. We hired one of the best contractors in the world and we flew them to the location at night and they were permanently holed up at the location till the project was complete. Before you ask, the pilots are our best and they are now part of the Ghost Unit.'

'The location maybe secret but I need to interview the pilots and see their records for myself first before I agree to have them on my team. Now about the location. Where is this secret location?'

'Come I shall show it to you.'

The Ghost Unit - Chapter 1

The General

Chapter 1

Year 2020 - 0800 GMT. Situation room at the IEU (International Espionage Unit)secret headquarters located somewhere in a remote mountain range in Iceland. It is also known as the Vault.

The location is known only to the International Espionage Unit members. Within this organization is a team known as 'The Ghost Unit' or 'The Ghosts'.

The Ghosts are the world's best weapon and its best kept secret. The Ghost Unit comprises the best soldiers from different armies of the world. Each Ghost selected for their expertise in a given field. Another feature common among the member of The Ghost Unit is that each member of the unit has no family or loved ones alive. This is a criterion that is checked very carefully before the selection of the agent into The Ghost unit.

The most important part of The Ghost Unit is that its members are all dead. Dead to the world outside. Once selected as a member of The Ghost Unit their deaths are faked to make them invisible.  The members are taken to the secret base from which they operate.

Trinnean James walks into the situation room and looks at all gathered there. He walks up to his seat and sits down.

[Trinnean James - The head of The Recon Ghost Unit selected for his exemplary marksmanship and leadership. Also known as TJ or Snake Eyes - a call sign taken from his favorite G.I. Joe character. He was selected after his stint with the US Marines in Afghanistan. Trinnean was approached by the creator of the Ghost Unit 'The General' and given the authority to select his team of international soldiers to be part of a task force which would be the ultimate weapon against terrorism.]

An elderly gentleman walks into the room and to the white screen in front of the room.

[General Vladimir Bolchikov - Former commander of the KGB and one of Russia's top intelligence specialists. Also known as 'The General'. General Bolchikov started the Ghost Unit at the request of the then director of Interpol.]

The General switches on the projector and turns to the gathering. 'As you all know by now Qiyana was attacked a few days back. From our inspection of the bodies of her attackers it seems they were part of a new terrorist organization called the Raiders. There is very little known about this group. All that we know is they are a mix of some of the top mercenaries in the world who have decided to create a new world order. Qiyana seems to have dug a little too deep so' he looks at Qiyana 'I have to take you out of the field and keep you here at HQ. You need to go through all the information you've gathered. There's something we haven't seen as yet that got their attention and we need to know what.'

'But sir' replies Qiyana.

'No buts. It is an order and you will follow it. TJ I need you to take a team back to Aspen and do a recon. I want to know how and where they picked up on Qiyana. It's a bloody good thing you were around.' He grins at the both of them. 'Ok people let's get moving. We have a lot of work.'
Everybody gets up to leave. Only Qiyana stays back.

[Qiyana Okawa - Call sign 'The Cat' for her agility and lightning quick reflexes. She was recruited for her expertise on stealth warfare. Second in command to TJ and also his high school sweetheart.]
